Contributor to a wide range of projects that have demanded varied and comprehensive computer programming and engineering skills. These include:
DSP Wireless, Inc.
Wrote a suite of programs to support
development and testing of a new digital navigation radio for the private
aircraft industry. In addition to implementing a complex protocol for
radio control via the serial port, the main program featured a
proprietary language for scripting automated tests with GPIB support of
electronic test equipment.
OuterLink (formerly Newcomb Communications, Inc)
Developed client workstation software for a satellite-based fleet
tracking system. Technologies include communicating via the Internet
with an Earth Station to send and receive live position and message data,
GIS mapping, real-time alarm processing and response, and interaction with
a variety of customer databases (Access, Oracle, SQL Server); all in an
object-oriented programming framework. Assumed the lead in all steps
of the life-cycle process including design, coding, debug and test,
documentation, and install kit creation.
Spike Broadband Systems, Inc.
Developed software for manufacturing testing of wireless Internet
modems. The test featured GPIB control of attenuators, spectrum
analyzer, and signal generators and consisted of measuring IP packet throughput and BER.
Created an Access database for storing test results with custom reporting
capabilities for management. Wrote user manuals and technical
documentation.
GeoPhone Company, LLC
After leading the requirements definition activity, developed Administration Terminal software for a wireless VSAT communications system, including network configuration and control, diagnostic programs, and call detail record (CDR) processing. Developed a highly cost-effective multi-port bulk-call generator composed of custom software and OTS hardware for testing the system. Made major contributions to network design and testing.
Creative Signage Systems (CSS)
Developed system that allows personnel at VA hospitals (CSS’ clients)
to easily update touchscreen electronic directories at their facility.
Also, wrote application that enables CSS employees to significantly cut
order time by accessing detailed sign specifications for customers from
database. The software tracks work orders from entry through
delivery, including generating and tracking billing. Have written
numerous small utilities for CSS over the years.
Anne Arundel County Liquor Board
Created a custom database application that enables liquor board personnel to manage liquor license records. Includes extensive reporting capabilities.
Played key role in high-level engineering/computer/mathematical projects for clients such as Boeing, Martin-Marietta, Raytheon, Loral, AVCO, Telefunken and the Department of Defense. Work included designing pattern recognition and digital signal processing algorithms for sensor systems (radar, sonar, imaging,) writing extensive computer simulations, and analyzing the results.
